Our cleaners are in Sketty most days of the week. Families here are stretched thin, and plenty of our clients work rotas at Singleton or teach up at the university, which means the house gets whatever time is left over. Usually none. Now in our fourth year, The Ready Maids look after more than 50 homes and businesses around Swansea.
- The same cleaner or team on every regular visit
- Every cleaner vetted before they join us
- Fully insured, with a fixed price agreed up front
What Sketty Homes Throw At Us
Mud is the constant. Singleton Park is a five-minute walk for half of Sketty, and whatever the dog and the kids pick up in there comes back on the hall floor. Wet grass in autumn is worse than proper mud, because it dries into the carpet before anyone notices.
Then there are the stairs. A lot of Sketty houses run over three floors, sometimes with a converted loft on top. That means carrying kit up and down, two bathrooms instead of one, and bedrooms nobody has time to reach on a weeknight.
The third thing is timing. When one person leaves at half six for a shift and the other is on a school run, there is no convenient hour. We work around that rather than asking you to.
The Jobs We Get Called Out For
Regular Home Cleaning
Most of our Sketty work is a repeating slot, either weekly or fortnightly. We take the bathrooms, the kitchen, the floors and the dusting, plus bins and beds. On a three-storey house, we often send two cleaners, so the whole place gets done in one go rather than dragging on.
Hallways and stairs get more attention here than they would elsewhere, because that is where the park comes indoors. Where mud has been ground into a carpet over months, a vacuum will not lift it, and carpet cleaning is the honest answer.
You can also tell us what matters and what does not. Some clients want the kitchen spotless and are happy for the spare room to be skipped. That is fine. It is your money.
Deep Cleans and Move Outs
Every new regular client starts with one deep clean. We would rather reset the house properly than spend six weeks slowly catching up on it, and it makes every visit after that quicker.
Sketty also has a lot of student and rental turnover near the Uplands end and around the university. Our end of tenancy clean works to a room-by-room list, oven and cupboard interiors included, which is what an inventory clerk actually checks before a deposit gets signed off.
Cleaning Around Hospital Shifts
Plenty of our Sketty clients are on rotas. Nights, long days, and weekends on. A cleaner who can only come at two in the afternoon on a Wednesday is no use to someone sleeping off a night shift.
So we fit the slot to the rota, not the other way round. Tell us the pattern, and we will find a time that lands when the house is empty or when nobody is trying to sleep. If your rota shifts month to month, tell us, and we move with it.
How a Visit Runs
We start at the top of the house and come down. Anything we disturb upstairs lands on floors we have not done yet, so working the other way means doing the same job twice.
Bedrooms and bathrooms first. Beds made, bathrooms scrubbed and sanitised, sills and skirting wiped.
Living space next. Dusting goes high to low, cushions come up, and surfaces get cleared and wiped rather than cleaned around.
Kitchen after that. Counters, sink, hob and the fronts of the appliances.
Floors, ladders and stairs were last, vacuumed and then mopped. Bins go out on the way to the door.
Every person who does this in your home was vetted before we took them on, and we are insured for the work. For regular clients, it is the same cleaner or team each visit, so after a few weeks nobody needs telling where anything lives.
